pray

National Day of Prayer is this Thursday.

Join people at Troy's Monument Square, Albany's Capitol steps, or Schenectady's City Hall at noon to pray together... for the US, for our local communities, for our brothers and sisters around the world.

Today's national day of prayer in Troy: What a strange scene. Although the weather was sunny and the attendance a good mix of young and old, black and white, charismatic and traditional, it felt strange to pray for the US -- like God only pays attention to the US. It felt selfish. I was hoping that it wouldn't be another conservative Christian attempt to say "God Bless America," but that is what, essentially, it seemed like. Bummer. I saw a bumper sticker that sums it up better: God Bless The World.
